Description
Interleukin-23 (IL-23) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a critical role in immune regulation. IL-23 is a heterodimer composed of two subunits: IL12p40 and IL-23p19. It is primarily secreted by antigen-presenting cells, including dendritic cell, macrophages and monocytes.
IL-23 is responsible for the expansion and maintenance of T helper 17 (Th17) cells, a subset of CD4 T cells involved in host defense and inflammatory responses.
